5k (We did it!)

Our greatest fans! Bryce Rusty
and Lacey patiently waiting.

High five sista! :)

Goodluck hug!

On your mark, get set, go!!!! The girls: Me, Steph, Her sis, and Tyree! This was before the race. Travis and Kirby playing it cool! Don't they look like professional runners?!

Here I am getting my earphones just right. Waiting for the race to begin.. Love it!!!

I can't believe how fast a year goes by these days! It seems like I just ran this race! I haven't been running as much as last year but I still love the natural high you get from running. This year I thought it was going to be me, Tyree, and Stephanie running, when Kirby surprised me and said he was going to run it!!! :) I was so excited! So with a one time practice Kirb was ready. It was also fun because my brother Travis and my sister in law Natalie ran too. It is so awesome to see 600 people ready to run. My least favorite part is waiting for the race to start and smelling every ones b.o. (not something I look forward to!) :) And waking up a 5:00 in the morning! (but I managed!) The day turned out being beautiful and warmer than last year I'm pretty sure. Thankfully Grandma Debbie had the day off and came with us to be with the kids and be the photographer! It is such a rush to cross that finish line with people that love you cheering you on. I just kept telling everyone that I would be happy if I beat my time from last year by 1 second. That was my goal. But, I've got to brag I was 39 seconds faster and I was totally happy about that!!! So my final time was 26:06. 16th place overall and 7th in women age 30-39. Kirby's time was 32:00. He was happy about his time too!! :) He is such a good sport and reminds me to just do my best. It was such a great day being able to spend it with friends and family. Can't wait until next year!!! Great job to everyone.

P.S. Trav, I can't believe you let your little sis win ya!!! Better luck next year!!! :)

Here's a good thought for all my running buddies.
The real reward is knowing that you made a commitment, challenged yourself, and followed through to the very end.

Found!

I washed my kitchen rugs while I was mopping and the rugs were actually done before the mopping was so, I just laid them on the couch until I was ready to put them in their place. The next thing I know Rusty is reading a story to Lacey all covered up in the bed of rugs!!! So I had to snap a picture.
They don't always show their love to one another so it is so good to catch them once in a while! Guess the rugs were still warm. :)

Crash and Burn!

Yes, it happened! Rusty was riding his 4-wheeler to Grandma Debbie's and half way there Kirby parked his wheeler and made him ride the rest of the way with him. So he was acting like stunt man a little to much for Kirby to handle.
After a good visit with Grandma, Kirby and the boys each hopped on their 4-wheelers with instuctions from dad to go slow, and headed for home. I was driving a little ways behind them in the Aspen. As I came around the bend I was wishing I was dreaming. It was one of those sights that you hope you never see as a mom. You know Rusty laying on the road, Kirby hovering over him and the 4-wheeler in the borrow pit!
I jumped out so scared I couldn't even talk. Kirby quickly reassured me he was okay and proceeded to pull the wheeler off it's top. Luckily uncle Joe drove by just in time to help us get the 4-wheeler home, so I could drive Rusty the rest of the way.
Rusty was very upset and scared. He says he is never ridding his 4-wheeler again!
I'm not sure that's a bad thing.
I am just so glad he was wearing a helmet. I am glad Kirby is persistent about wearing one.
So all is well, thankfully. And he came out with a little road rash on his side. Rusty was very willing to show off his war wound so he could be blogged. :)
Kirby said this morning, "Rusty's first crash, but you know it won't be his last!"
I wasn't ready to hear that!!!!! The joys of having boys!!! :)

I am blessed!

"How do you think of your children? On any given day, would you say your children are a blessing or a burden? Here is a challenge to you … How are you?” … “How is the baby?” … “How are your kids?” … We all hear these questions every day. Do you know a mom who always answers something like this: “Well, I haven’t killed my 2-year-old yet, so I guess that’s good.” Or, “I’m just exhausted,” or, “Things are absolutely crazy – I am so stressed out! ”Maybe that frazzled, haggard, bewildered mommy is someone you know. Maybe it’s you! I know I’ve been there. Here is my question to you today… are we bearing our blessings as burdens? Those babies that we dreamt of and prayed for, that we had so much fun choosing names for, that we counted the days to meet… are they burdens to us now? Those homes that we were ecstatic to move into… are they burdens now? That husband that we couldn’t live without, that we picked out the wedding dress for, that we cried and ached and waited by the phone for… is he a burden now? That job you needed, you wanted and prayed for, that provides food and clothing for your family… is it a burden now?Sometimes it seems to me like a mantle we as moms must carry. We must be tired, we must be stressed out; we must be hurried and frazzled, we must be lucky just to make it through the day. Are we bearing our blessings as burdens? Are we tired? Absolutely. As moms, we know about the 2 a.m. feedings, the nightmares, the wet beds, the midnight curfews. Do things get a little stressful between PTA meetings, dance class, the T-ball game, and dinner on the table at 6? Sure they do. Are husbands always a joy when they get home from work? No way. Is scrubbing the potty, doing the laundry, and cleaning the high chair tray the greatest thrill we’ve ever known? Of course not. So how do we look past the burdens and see the blessings of our families and our homes? Do you know any women who would give anything to have a baby to nurse at 2 a.m.? Anyone who would love to have those clothes we are sick of washing, or that house we just can’t keep clean. Do you know any women whose husbands aren’t coming home? I challenge you to joy, to smile, to persevere. I challenge you to bear your burdens as blessings and watch as they multiply. And the next time someone asks you how you are, throw off that identity of stressed out, frazzled mommy, find your smile and answer, “I am blessed!”

Rusty Says!

Today as I was getting Lacey ready. I said come here Lacey lets put your shoes on. Rusty quickly turned to me and said, those aren't shoes their Foot Flops!!!!
This struck me so funny!!! Nothing better than your 4 year old correcting your language! :)

I couldn't resist after getting everyone ready for church to take a few shots with the camera.
I can't believe for just setting the timer how cute everyone looks.
Oh how I love being a wife and mommy!

Today was the most embarrassing day! I guess being the mom, I am always helping everyone else get dressed and ready. I kinda forget about myself. I was confidently walking into sacrament with my cute little family and of course the only seats left were up in the front of the chapel. (what's new?) As I got sat down sister w. came up behind me and said, Heidi your skirt is unzipped!!!
I thought you have got to be kidding!!! Nope, she wasn't!!! I slowly turned around to glance at how many people could have seen me, oh my, lets just say it was pretty much the whole ward!!!
I looked at Kirb and said can I go home yet?!
And then I let Kirby know that it is his job to check me out before I walk into church. He was trying to smooth things over by telling me probably nobody else even noticed. Yeah right!
So just for a heads up, if you want a good laugh come to sacrament meeting with me. You might see some booty!!!!
What a great sabbath!!!
You guys make me so proud!!! Love you.

almost gone!

The other day we headed outside for a little sunshine! Yes, I said SUNSHINE! Bryce and Rusty decided to enjoy the last of the snow in our yard. I am not sad to see it go!
Lacey was still a little hesitant but enjoyed being in the sun! Everyone had a smile.

Green Eggs & Ham!

Happy St. Patricks Day! This morning everyone was making sure they had something green on at our house. I was the first to be pinched! Rusty made sure I knew I didn't have any green on my pajamas. Even though I told him mommy has green eyes, I guess that wasn't good enough because I got pinched several more times!
Kirby made our breakfast this morning and it may not look grand but it is deceiving! He even sauteed green peppers in the eggs! What a chef!!! :)

Good morning everyone!!!

Couples Ride!

We got together with some couples in our ward and planned a snowmobiling excursion. It was great. We had a lot of good laughs. We did also have a couple of scares.
#1 Tyree took Kirby's snowmobile to try it out and seconds after taking off she went down a unexpected hill and flew into the handle bars! It was scary before we knew if she was okay. Thankfully she had some bruised ribs but not broken. Oh did I mention it was my idea that she try out Kirb's snowmobile? What kind of friend am I???
#2 Sean and Tyree's snowmobile had a couple problems on the way over but with a prayer and our Casanova husbands it was up and running again in no time!
Just a thought, Tyree you were involved in both scares!!!! :) Ha, Ha, Ha! Your such a good sport!
Hope that we can make this ride a tradition.
I am so grateful to have such good friends. Thanks everyone for an awesome day! :)
This is not the greatest picture but I wanted one before we left.

The girls: Irene, Me, Stephanie, Tyree, Ann Marie, and her sister.

The boys checking out Sean and Tyree's snowmobile it had a few kinks to work out.

Here we are eating lunch. The food was good!

Dan and Stephanie.

It's a bird, it's a plane---

Nope, It's a bird!

It was so funny Rusty threw the bird in the air to see if it would fly and it flapped and landed right on Lacey's head!!!

It was just the average morning, you know wake up, get breakfast, and then everyone bids daddy off to work. Well a couple minutes after Kirby went out the door he was back with this feathery friend!
I guess it was in the garage and we realized it couldn't fly. The kids loved holding it and chasing it around the kitchen! I just bit my tongue and watched!
If your asking what happened to the bird? I'm not sure? Kirby set it free out in the snow with the dog nearby!!! I made sure I didn't look outside for awhile. I guess on a positive note I didn't see any remains!!!

1ST TIME!

Kirby, Me, Irene, and Keith

Me and Kirby. What kind of face is that?

Keith and Irene

Look closely and you can see a moose! Didn't get the greatest shot of it.

Kirby invested in a snowmobile a couple years ago and has definitely enjoyed a lot of rides with the guys, but it has never been convenient enough for me to go with him. Until now! :) We were able to go with some great friends of ours Keith and Irene. It was a great day.
We left about 9 ish and drove to Albert Moser where we unloaded the sleds. It was awesome and not to mention BEAUTIFUL. Their is a groomed trail but it was tons of fun making new trails threw the fresh powder.
We made it over to Bear Lake where we enjoyed a fabulous lunch and then headed back. It was such a great day did I mention that already?! ;)
I am so glad to see what snowmobiling is all about!

Here is a clip of us. I think Kirby is trying to throw me off!!! But I remained on the sled the whole day! If you know Kirby's driving, that is a very big accomplishment!!!

Fishing for food!

Our tent.

Cheese!

Our S'mores.

Lacey loved her s'more, can ya tell???

We have all had camping fever in our family and the other day we were talking about all the fun times we have had on camping trips. It triggered a great idea in my head for a good family night! Why can't you camp in the winter?
So, I pulled some ideas together and here is what I came up with. First we had to fish for our food and the kids loved it. I think every fish was caught at least 3 times! Then we turned those paper fish into tin foil dinners. I put them together an cooked them on 350 for one hour. (Mmmm) The kids pretended they were eating their fish.
Then for the spiritual part we watched a church movie in the tent we made!! That was fun even Kirb and I squished in.
And for dessert we enjoyed S'mores! It turned out being a great spiritual camping trip! The kids are ready to do it again.

Little Mommy

Rock a bye the babies!!!

Notice her baby is still bright eyed! :) Hee,Hee!

I found Lacey in the rocking chair up stairs with her baby and she was sound asleep! :) What a little sweety. She is practicing her mommy skills already. It reminded me of those long nights with your own little baby and how exhausted a mom can get!
Thankfully I have been enjoying a good nights sleep at night for a few months now unless one of my babies are sick, of course.
It's so amazing to me that little girls already have that motherly instinct. I think Lacey makes a great little mommy!!! :)

New Years

Kirb really had a great time it just looks like he's scowling in this picture.

Wait for me!

Lacey hung out in the truck most of the time and was happy as could be just watching. In fact when I got her out on set her on the snow she started to cry!! :)

Rusty making snow caves and enjoying his hot cocoa.

Here's Lacey with her Aunt Stephanie.

On or near New Years we have made it tradition to go sleigh riding with the Chatterton family. It is so fun for the adults and the kids. It makes me feel like a kid again going down the hill on my sleigh. Kirby was our ride up the mountain! It was so fun and I also love knowing we get to head back to Grandma Debbie's for a warm meal. This year it was all flavors of warm soup that warmed every ones bellies.

It's Christmas!!!

Chatterton Christmas 2009

Bryce excited to try his out!

It's a baby for my baby!!!

Rusty trying out his wheeler. You can't even see his mouth but can tell has a huge smile under that mask!!!

I have such a hard time keeping secrets from my kids. So it is all I can do to wait until Christmas! I can't wait to see their little faces light up and all the excitement. I did think I would keep myself under control with spending this year and just get mainly what we needed. But you know how that goes!!! What was I thinking?
At first Santa was just bringing one 4-wheeler for the boys to share but when it came right down to it Mrs. Clause thought it would be so fun for them to have their own!!! How does that happen?!?
Lacey was happy with the bows and boxes but she sure does love the baby and stroller she got. She wasn't sure what was going on but very glad to be a part!
It was a pretty relaxing day we were able to enjoy all the new stuff with the kids. And have a yummy dinner. (Ham and potatoes)
When the day was done I was glad Christmas only comes once a year!!!!
